Textiles found at Vintage & Handmade Jumble last Saturday,
smashing day out.

This gorgeous piece of hand stitched patchwork dated 1859 and 1866.

I think this pieces may be Georgian?

Below :: Lovely quilt piece, the top fabric has been covered by the lighter background fabric.
So interesting to find another print underneath.

Barkcloth curtain swatch.

Every single thread of all these textiles I absolutely adore,
but you knew that already, you know how I feel about tired textiles.

Below, gifts.
I have wonderful friends.
The textiles above were purchased from jo and ali thank you lovely ladies for bringing such lovely textiles to the jumble and making me a happy girl.

Back to life, back to reality, back to the here and now...

Hello!
I'm sporting a big silly grin today!
So very happy with how my first Workshop went yesterday.
A fine group of lovely girls came from all over the UK
to
Hens Teeth Haberdashery hand sewn Brooch Workshop

We had such a lovely day, gathering materials, stitching, making, talking about our favourite artists...Julie Arkell and Janet Bolton being mentioned more than once :)
The classroom was lovely, bright and spacious.
Lunch time and a chance to take a look at the Weston Park Gallery, walk in the woods and have a bite.
We had lots of coffee, tea and cake and a good old giggle too.
We all learnt something new, one way or the other, I'm sure....I know I did.
Little things that made me happy through the day were,
a collection of cut bits...
ribbons
Fab way of keeping track of your scissors
Vera's lovely tin
and lots of beautiful stitchery

We had a gathering of finished and some unfinished brooches, at the end of a simply wonderful day.

Thank you so much to all the ladies that came and made the day a very happy and memorable time.
Please see tab under header for workshop blog :)
Thanks for stopping by. x

I have sent you an email Linda.   I hope you will be pleased.
Thank you so much to each and everyone of you,
who wrote the most sweetest, kindly and supportive words ever!
Thank you all so much.
Well, I have my first workshop tomorrow, so I will post a few pics of the day as soon as poss.

Friday 2 March 2012

Hello, is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me, is there anyone home?...

Just to let you know, I have another workshop now available.
I have booked Weston Park for another
Haberdashery Brooch Workshop
on the 28th April 10-4pm
Weston Park will be so pretty, with the woods coming into leaf and the Spring blossoms.
This is the view from the car park, down where the class room is situated.
The little green hut on the left, I think, is something to do with the teeny tiny gauge train they have running around part of the Estate in the summer months.
Any questions about the workshop, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I made these two brooches today.
The picture of the bird and nest is on silk.
The aqua colour is really gorgeous and the blue is picked up by the seed beads.
I'm feeling a bit lifted with the sniff of Spring in the air.
Well, it's more than a sniff really and very welcome.
So I added the 'spring time' text.

Just lately I have been shown a great deal of kindness, love, and generosity by my dear friends.
There has been a little turn in positive things happening too, here at Hen's Teeth HQ.
Having fibromyalgia... it is very easy to slip into a depressive statement mind.
But, I try very hard to stay positive.   Family would probs disagree:)
Anyway,
with so many lovely things happening just lately,
I wanted to 'pass it on' in a small way and I have put this purse up for a 'giveaway'.
A plain and simple comment would be great and I will use a random selector thingy,
next Friday 9th March to choose a name.
