Hello,

I hope you have had a wonderful and happy holiday.   We have had a peaceful and very quiet few days, so I have spent the time happily stitching Wrist Cuffs.  So enjoyable to use some of my stash of old fabrics and trims.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a very happy 2015.
That all your hopes and dreams come true.
A huge thank you for all your kind comments left here over 2014,
each one, very much appreciated.

Hello,
I hope you have had a good weekend.
I have been making heart Brooches again, with wording such as 'Sun is shining in the sky', 'Beautiful day' and 'Isn't it ironic'.   Made from gorgeous old, worn patchwork.

Very happy to have had my scarves reprinted, as the first batch sold quickly.
These are a longer scarf, still the same beautiful double Georgette silk though.
The print is so clean and vibrant.

Available in my Etsy shop.

 Hello,

as thoughts turn to the new year ... I am thinking of delivering regular textile/stitchy workshops at Weston Park, Shropshire. I have held a few classes there in the past and they have been very happy, productive days.   I wondered if any of you lovely ladies would be interested?   If so, please contact me via my email address (at side bar) and I can then contact you when I have more info.
In the meantime, a couple of brooches popped into the Etsy shop this evening.

Thank you for stopping by.

 Hello,
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Well, Selvedge Winter Fair has come and gone.  Very enjoyable too.
Absolutely shattered, but all good.
So, I am now updating my online shops and would like to show you a new product.   I have double Georgette 100% silk Scarves available...digitally printed with a embroidered design, called 'Dreamer'.
The scarves are lovely to the touch and a little heavier than silk. Short in length, as the pictures indicate.   I feel really happy with the printing, as it is vibrant and I feel there are many ways in which I can use this printing for future projects.
Here is link for details, if you fancy a nosey :)

Saturday 11 October 2014

Hello,
I hope all is well with you and yours.
I have enjoyed a thoroughly crafty weekend.
Yesterday I visited The Old Granada Studios at Manchester for the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair   Interesting venue for the Fair...and I wondered just how many hundreds of programmes had been made there.

Headed over to see Julia Jowett and her fabulous work and found Julia talking to the Craft/Art Goddess Hannah Lamb     A coincidence as I had booked on the Cyanotype  workshop at Unit Twelve the next day.
Julia left, Hannah right.
So, just home from a fabulous day at the workshop .
Hannah was extremely generous with information about her technique and working method.
We all had great fun creating prints with all sorts of small objects from this very old photographic technique.
View of Unit Twelve
 Few prints hanging to dry
My finished work ... paper and fabric prints

Hoping to incorporate this into my work somehow.
That's me for today, thanks for stopping by. x

Sunday 21 September 2014

 Hello,
long time no post.
What a whirlwind I have been caught up in just of late, all good though.
First of all, the current husband and I visited the huge Braderie at Lille, France, the beginning of September.   A giant boot fair really, with a mix of vile plastic tat and great vintage finds...but you have to look really hard for those.   The fun is in the looking though.
Then, just enough time to sort my clothes out and off my girl and I flew to Menorca for a week.
I kind of expected it to be lovely and warm, but Menorca is having an unusal heat wave and the temp was 30 degrees with very high  humidy.   Swimming in the crystal clear, amazingly warm, aqua coloured sea was like being in heaven.   I want to go back and soon!
 Colours of Menorca.

Back home and I wanted to tell you how happy I am to have pieces of my work in
 'Books of the Unexpected' Exhibition,
'Curated by artist Becky Adams, this exhibition looks at works by artists inspired by the form, structure and content of books.
Exhibiting artists: Karen Apps, Susie Bright, Jessie Chorley, Yvette Hawkins, Alison MogerBetty Pepper, Phiona Richards, Donna Rumble-SmithViv Sliwka and Becky Adams.'

Exhibition Catalogue
This is my main piece in the Exhibition.   Based on the story of Thumbelina.
Set in a large vintage tin.   Hand stitched.  All vintage textiles.
and finally, I am now working like the wind towards 'The Chelsea Decorative Living Fair', Chelsea Town Hall, London - Thurs. 2nd October.... The Fair is co-organised by Caroline Zoob   If you plan on visiting, there is a chance to win tickets over at Caroline's web site...click ↑
Well, I think that's me for now...thank you for stopping by. x

Monday 25 August 2014

Just about recovered from a lovely day at 'Antiques on the Green. Wisborough Summer Brocante'.
What a day!
So I have been updating the Etsy shop with unsold 'makes' today which include these small hanging, two sided framed, paper and embroidered collages.

Below is a little painting on a wood block, that I had to get out of my system.

Wednesday 6 August 2014

New work, a slight change in style with a more muted colour palette.    I wanted to try and capture the texture of summertime road-side verge and the dried grasses and hog weeds.
Screen printed 'Honeythunder Hare' and hand embroidered on a vintage shirt collar.   Hell on the fingers.
I intend to have this professionally framed in a deep box frame.

Brooches of Virtuosity ... Well, I'm a good girl, are you?
X
I have met and made wonderful new friends, from all over the world through blogging.  You know who you are lovely ladies.   Lately, I have been 'talking' to Nat from Russia, who so very kindly sent me a parcel full of exquisitely wrapped and labelled gifts.  All smelling of coffee.  Such a joy to open.
I was and still am giddy with excitement.
How fortunate am I to receive such beautiful handmade and Russian vintage gifts.   I am truly overwhelmed.
This sails actually turn.
Thank you so very much Nat. X
